Meet the Team

A Team That Takes Pride in Doing Things Properly.
We are a small, dedicated team of accountants and finance professionals based in Somerton, Somerset. We care about the quality of our work and the relationships we build, and as a smaller firm, every member of our team plays a meaningful role in the service we provide.

Bruce Evans
Bruce is a chartered accountant and the Director of Somerset Accountancy Services. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA), he has been working with owner-managed businesses since qualifying in 1996.
He joined Somerset Accountancy in 2020 and took ownership in 2022, building on the firm’s established foundations while broadening the range of services available to growing businesses. He works closely with clients across trades, professional services and property, helping them understand their financial position, improve profitability and plan for the future. He is one of a small number of Certified Profit First Professionals in the UK, and holds probate authorisation as Director of Somerset Accountancy Wills Ltd.

Jessica Cannon
Jessica joined Somerset Accountancy Services in September 2021 and is central to the day-to-day running of the firm. As Office Manager and Company Secretary, she manages client onboarding and discovery calls, files accounts and confirmation statements at Companies House, submits tax returns at HMRC, and oversees billing and direct debits.
If you have a question about your bill, a deadline, a company secretarial matter or anything to do with the firm’s processes, Jessica is your first point of contact.

Simon Miell
Simon is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and has been with Somerset Accountancy Services since 2005, progressing from trainee to manager over two decades with the firm. He has a particular specialism in the construction and trades sectors, and brings deep practical knowledge of the financial and tax considerations facing businesses in these industries.

Alison Hartnell
Alison is a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT) and has been with Somerset Accountancy Services since 2004 — one of the firm’s longest-serving team members, with over twenty years of experience in practice. She supports clients across a broad range of accounting and tax areas, bringing careful attention to detail and the consistent, reliable approach that comes from many years of working closely with owner-managed businesses.

Kirsty Ingersent
Kirsty joined Somerset Accountancy Services in November 2024 as an Accounts Senior. She is AAT qualified and brings a thorough, methodical approach to her work, supporting clients with their accounting and financial reporting and taking pride in ensuring everything is completed accurately and on time.

Nycola Barnard
Nycola joined Somerset Accountancy Services in November 2022 and has completed her AAT Level 3 qualification. She supports clients with bookkeeping and accounts work, helping to ensure financial records are maintained accurately and to a high standard.

Stephanie Ignat
Stephanie joined Somerset Accountancy Services in May 2014 and brings over a decade of experience in accounts, payroll and bookkeeping. She is an AAT Qualified Bookkeeper (AATQB) and holds a Payroll Management Diploma from the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), giving her strong technical grounding across all three areas of her work.

Brigid Evans
Brigid is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office. She manages filing and archiving across the practice, coordinates deliveries and post, and oversees the firm's office maintenance and special projects, ensuring the practice runs smoothly behind the scenes so that the rest of the team can focus on client work.

Philip Acton
Philip is the firm's management accountant. He prepares profitability analysis and Profit First reports for our advisory clients, and designs and maintains the client management reports and dashboards we deliver through Syft. Philip also looks after Somerset Accountancy's own internal management and financial accounts, giving us the same clarity over our own performance that we provide to clients.
