Accounting and Tax Support That Gives You Clarity and Control

Supporting owner-managed businesses with structured accounting, tax and planning, so you can understand your position and plan ahead.

We provide accounting and tax services to owner-managed businesses across Somerset and the South West, including electricians, plumbing and heating engineers, construction businesses and professional firms.

The Challenge

Most businesses start with basic compliance. Accounts are prepared. Tax returns are filed. But as the business grows, that’s no longer enough.

You need:

  • clarity on your numbers
  • confidence in your position
  • guidance on what to do next

Our Approach

We provide a structured accounting and tax service that goes beyond compliance. Everything is delivered properly and consistently with the right level of support, insight and planning depending on your needs.

So instead of reacting after the year-end, you can:

  • understand your position during the year
  • make better decisions
  • plan ahead with confidence

Making Tax Digital (MTD)

Making Tax Digital is changing how businesses and individuals report their income to HMRC.

This involves:

  • maintaining digital records
  • submitting updates during the year
  • completing a final declaration

We support clients with MTD as part of our accounting and tax service ensuring:

  • records are appropriate for digital reporting
  • submissions are completed correctly and on time
  • your overall tax position is properly managed

For clients who want more than basic compliance, this can also be used as part of a more structured approach to understanding and planning their tax position throughout the year.

As part of our role as accountants for landlords, sole traders and growing businesses, we ensure Making Tax Digital requirements are handled correctly.

Proposed offence for reckless, untrue tax statements

HMRC have proposed a new criminal offence for making reckless, untrue statements or declarations about what's known as 'direct taxes' - Income Tax, National Insurance and the like. For Customs and Excise and VAT ('indirect taxes'), it is already possible to prosecute individuals who make untrue statements or submit incorrect documents either knowingly or recklessly, without the need to prove dishonesty. The penalties for such offences can be severe, including substantial fines and imprisonment. The direct tax regime does not currently contain an equivalent offence.
